What that means is that if your chest measures 42 inches round, and you select a uniform whose chest measurement is also 42 inches, the shirt will be too small.

Take your own body measurements and add the allowances you need to be comfortable in your uniform. If you’re in between two sizes choose the larger size for a looser fit or the smaller size for a tighter fit.
